Circuits of Sheol: Concept & Interest checking post
The basic concept is something similar in feel to amnesia team games but minus amnesia or teams. What do we mean by that? The original doc Excel posted is here but in a nutshell:
-Your world's being destroyed by a mysterious corrupting force and you've been saved from it and brought into a futuristic city that's also being attacked by the corruption but has some resources to help fight it.
-Everyone lives in random buildings around the city.
-Games are played in virtual reality and you get put into teams as needed before the start of each game. So you'll have teams but not persistent ones!
-Most games earn you points which you can use to buy a variety of cool stuff and make your life nicer. You can also earn points in other ways that we're still settling on but are likely to include making your homes feel more homelike and getting to know your housemates.
-The way to actually fight the corruption is HEART GAMES. Heart games will result in additions to the city.
-NPCs are AIs who used to run the city for people but have gone a bit mad.
-We're not allowing post-other-RP characters but we are allowing AUs. Making an AU to recreate some of the development your character got in another RP is okay in theory but try not to go overboard.
- Also, OCs and duplicates, as long as the duplicates are different from one another
-The AIs can't revive actual dead people so actual, non-VR death in game is permanent and you can't app characters who have died. You can either AU them having survived their wounds or app from before they die (sick characters are fine though, as are undead characters. If they have a body and it's moving it's all good).
We don't have a set start date yet but we're aiming to get things up and running within the next few weeks. In the meantime, we're curious to see what initial interest is like and who people feel like they might app. We're also considering running a round of heart games very close to the open of the game to kick things off fighting the corruption so if you're thinking of apping this is advance notice to start thinking about if you might want to run one. This is also a good post to ask questions if you've got 'em. We're still hammering out a lot of exact details but I think we've got a fair idea of how things are going to go.

and later an actual character maybe idk we'll see what kind of cast the game brings

Do they have a physical form in the town? Robot bodies or is it more like, projected holograms (which idk could also potentially have substance. HARD LIGHT)
Will the AI have some previous function that they had when the city was running that they can't really fill now for various reasons? Like, this one used to be an architect but now there's no reason to build things, this one used to help run the hospital?
Clearly the main driving force will be heart games but there will be other games that help the character's universe... but is there other incentive? Like does it help the AI and the AI rewards them with trinkets or something? Especially if it's a tiny game like I'm fond of.
More questions to come!

- Yes, all native AIs should have had a previous function. This ties into the previous question as well, because AIs will be limited in the type of robots they can control. (The main AI controls dozens; lesser AIs would probably just have one, of a specific type, like your architect or hospital worker).
- There's a points system to buy fancy things, like in EC but on an individual basis. It's gonna be pretty loose and people can pool their points and stuff, so no rankings or competitions.
Also, there will be a way for game participation to not be voluntary if the AI happens to be a big enough dick to implement it. (Basically, everybody gets implants that lets them remotely access the VR).
